The purpose of this class is to energize students with a
better understanding of marketing related topics including: Consumer Behavior;
Market Segmentation/Targeting/Positioning; Relationship Marketing; Product and
Service Strategies; Developing and Managing Brand/Product Categories; Personal
Selling and Sales Promotion; Pricing Strategies.
Attendance:
Regular attendance in class is obviously essential to the learning
process and is expected of all students.
In the event of an absence, it is YOUR responsibility to find out what
work was missed and have it completed upon your return to class.
Behavior:
I will treat the classroom very similar to how you are treated in the
“real” world. I expect students to be in
uniform, prepared for class, and courteous in all situations. If it becomes habit for the student to be
tardy, it could potentially result in the lowering of your final grade. I expect students to properly use their
computer accounts. Games, Streaming
Video, and inappropriate pictures/websites will not be tolerated. In addition, there is no food or drinks
allowed in the computer lab, and a violation of these rules, or to the DeMatha
Computer Code of Ethics, can result in a loss to your privilege to use the
computer at DeMatha Catholic High School.
Grading Scale:
Your grade will be calculated off total possible points. These points will be accumulated based upon
quizzes, tests, class work, projects, and homework.
A = 100-94 / A- = 93-90 / B =
89-84 / B- = 83-80 / C = 79-74 / C- = 73-70 / D = 69-65 / F = < 65
Homework/Class work:
Homework/Class work will be given out and checked regularly and will
include various assignments. Homework is
generally 20-40 points (depending on the number of questions). There will also
be multiple projects which will include marketing research studies (a couple
that need to be done at home) that will be 100 points each.
Materials Needed:
Each student should have the book (CONTEMPORARY MARKETING, by Boone and
Kurtz), a notebook to take notes, and a pen and pencil.
Tests and Quizzes: Each chapter will have at least one
quiz and one test. A review will be done
the class period before the announced quiz/test dates.
